Q Module 8 covers Business Presentations. PowerPoint is omnipresent in business. Millions of poorly designed and poorly delivered presentations have tarnished PowerPoint’s reputation as an effective communication tool. Just try a Google search for Death by PowerPoint, and you will see millions of hits. Moreover, overused templates have created boring “visual clichés.” Tools are helpful only when used properly. Therefore, in the last few years, several communication consultants have tried to show business presenters how they can move beyond bullet points. The experts recommend creating slideshows that tell a story and send a powerful message with much less text and more images. Presentation guru Garr Reynolds urges readers to unleash their creativity: “Do not rely on Microsoft or Apple or anyone else to dictate your choices. Most of all, do not let mere habit—and the habits of others—dictate your decisions on how you prepare and design and deliver your presentations.” Of course, a novice should first master the rules of slide design before thinking about breaking with established rules and expectations. Please plan, prepare and demonstrate a power point presentation: 1. The topic can be about anything we have learned so far in this class such as; how to effectively deliver a positive or negative message. 2. Prepare a outline of your presentation. Make sure it is a complete outline on your chosen topic. (10 points) 3. Prepare at least 6 power point slides utilizing your outline. You do not need to cover the whole topic. (10 points) 4. Add speaker notes on each slide to show how you will present the slide. (10 points) 5. Make sure to engage your audience and make it fun and interactive. Remember you do not want to be that boring presenter. 6. Have fun and be creative
